DREES NAMED CUSB BANK PRESIDENT

THOMSON CONTINUES AS CEO, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

MICHAEL DREES, PRESIDENT OF CUSB

The CUSB Bank Board of Directors officially named Michael Drees as President of CUSB Bank, effective Jan. 8, 2021. J. Scott Thomson, who served as President for 16 years, continues to be active in the bank, serving as CEO and Chairman of the Board.

Fourteen year CUSB Bank employee, Michael Drees, comes into the President’s role armed with over 20 years of banking experience. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Northern Iowa and is an Army Veteran. Over his years in banking he has served as a teller, in customer service, lending, and most recently, head of compliance and risk management. His family includes his wife, Amy, and their children Carter, Lucy, Emma, and Reagan.

Bank staff recently held an Inauguration Ceremony to commemorate Thomson’s 16 years as President and to “swear in” the new CUSB President. The bank honored Scott and Mike in a ceremony complete with a Scottish Bagpiper, lobby parade, balcony speeches, taking an oath, and releasing balloons to commemorate the change in guard.

In his tribute to Thomson, Drees said, “Scott has guided us over the last 16 years with humor and a generous, caring spirit. When he started as President the bank’s assets were around $200 million and have grown to $530 million today.  We are so thankful Scott will continue to play a lead role at CUSB as CEO and Chairman of the Board. We will continue to benefit from his direction, guidance, and amazing ability to connect with people.”

Thomson shared his appreciation for the past 16 years and is very confident in Drees’ ability to lead CUSB Bank in its daily operations. He said, “I look at Mike Drees and I see someone that we all trust and respect. We see someone that has compassion, with a sense of humor, that is a great leader. I am so excited about our future.”

Drees responded to Thomson’s comments by saying, “I’m humbled by the confidence you have in me to take on this role and know that I have some big shoes to fill. I want to thank the Thomson Family, my wife and children, my mom who introduced me to banking, and the CUSB staff and directors. It’s all of you that make this such a great place to work. I really do believe we have something special here and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
